Unveiling of the Br Walfrid Memorial.
The Br Walfrid Memorial was unveiled on Saturday. A real Irish feel was added to the occasion with the uileann pipes playing "The West's Awake" and "The Fields of Athenry".
The unveiling party was led out by a standard-bearer carrying the Tricolour and flanked by kids waving smaller Tricolours and Celtic flags.
It was very well attended and there was some good speeches from Quinn, McNeill and Eddie Toner on behalf of the Memorial Committee. Archbishop Conti blessed the statue as well and that was a nice touch.
Michael Kelly from Belfast Shamrock was also part of the unveiling team representing the AICSC. Another Sligo man in Sean Fallon had the honour of cutting the ribbon. Also in attendance were most of the Lisbon Lions and Fergus McCann. |
