On-loan Celtic striker Craig Bellamy has been voted Bank of Scotland Premier League player of the month for March.
The Wales international has scored six goals - five in March - since moving from Newcastle United and helped Celtic back to the top of the SPL. Bellamy said: "I'm delighted to receive the award, especially as it is my first full month of Scottish football. "It is great receiving an award, but obviously it is as much down to the players I play with as anything else." Celtic recorded league victories over Hibernian, Dunfermline Athletic, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Dundee United during March. Bellamy scored a clinical hat-trick in the 3-2 defeat of United at Tannadice Park. His performances have led to renewed hopes that Celtic could sign him permanently at the end of the season. But there are fears that this may not be possible, with the Glasgow club warning that an early exit from the Champions League will adversely affect their finances by the end of the summer.....lets hope that Celtic find the funds somewhere. |
