CELTIC 6 - DUNFERMLINE 0 - March 12th 2005 Before the visit of Dunfermline the Bhoys were under pressure to maintain the recent run of results and ensure the blue half of the city only kept the number one spot in the title race warm for the eventual winners. Could the hoops cope with this expectancy? Of course they could, was the resounding answer and 6 glorious goals past the hapless Stillie in the Dunfermline nets was just reward for a keeper who previously endeared himself to the Celtic faithful when he threw 6 goals into the net on a visit to Ibrox on the last day of season 2002-2003......NOT!!!!
The Hoops got off to the perfect start when a Thompson freekick on 9 minutes was bundled over the line by Big Bad John, and a barrowload was thus hoped for. The remainder of the half saw the Celts dominate but without the goals to show for their domination, and the second half started as the first finished - plenty of possession, Aidenho terrorising Ross, and the fans crying out for the goals to claw back the goal difference. The brilliance of Aidenho provided the second goal on 62 minutes, and between himself and Bellamy the Pars were masterfully destroyed. Stan chipped in with a double, as did Hartson, and with time running out a few changes were made, however the flow was not disrupted and the Hoops continued to pile forward in numbers. With two minutes remaining substitute Craig Beattie continued his remarkable scoring record by nodding home Ross Wallace's cross to send the Celtic supporters home happy and put Rangers under pressure. Bellamy showed enough brilliance to convince the faithful that all must be done by the club to keep him a Celt for season 2005-2006 and further ahead - whether this will be done is a question only the board can answer.....will they surprise us for once?
