Celtic 2 vs Le Mince 0 23/09/06 Print E-mail

Normally before preparing a match report I'd sit down and scribble a few notes before putting something up on the web page. But since we've got a big game coming up tonight and the match has been covered elsewhere I simply couldn't be arsed.

Suffice to say 'Oh The Rangers are Sh*te'

WGS' team continued their dominance over the Dark Side with another superb victory. Ok, maybe it wasn't a 6-2 but the general consensus is that Celtic deserved their victory and I wholeheartedly agree. Goals from Tommy G and Kenny 'Used to be a Hun but he's awright noo' Miller made Saturday morning a pleasant experience indeed.

Both goal celebrations were something to behold, with Tommy looking, well, psychotic and Kenny Miller going ballistic. Indeed if it wasn't for Paul Telfer catching him when he did there is simply no telling where Mr Miller would have found himself when he came to his senses.

On top of that, Kris Boyd hit the crossbar and Prso had one cleared off the line which just adds to the hilarity of the whole thing.

With the up-coming game against FCK, this could be a special week for Celtic FC. Sometimes the comedown from an OF game can see a side struggle but since this is a home tie in the Champions League we can only assume that the players will be focused.

Player Ratings
=========

Boruc 7
Was alert when required.

Telfer 6
The current whipping boy has put in a couple of good performances. Will never win over 100% of the Celtic support (see 'Agathe') but steadfast displays like this will not do him any harm with the more level headed amongst us. Just avoid the OT horror shows please Paul!

Caldwell 7
Doubts still remain over his positional sense but certainly not his commitment.

McManus 7
Another clean sheet for the central pairing. Easy Easy Easy...

Naylor 6
Caught a couple of times in possession but at 600K this guy could well be the bargain of the season.

Nakamura 6
The usual. Just apply yourself more man! (see 'Moravcik' - a pretty good footballer himself but could also sink the boot in when required).

Lennon 8
Just give us a goal against Les Miserables before you retire and we can all die happy. A fantastic game.

Gravesen 7
When he achieves 100% match fitness what a performer this guy will be. On hand to make sure of the goal but it was probably going in anyway. McGeady didn't take issue with it though....

McGeady 9
Some mesmerising stuff from the young Irish international. Made the Rangers team look like the donkeys they are. And in the second half when he tired he still set up the goal for Kenny....

JVoH 5
One great shot in the first half and made a nuisance of himself but didn't really get into the game.

Miller 7
'Houston, we have lift off' - to see that ball hit the back of the net not only secured the win but it lifted a huge weight off everybody's shoulders. Fantastic.

Man of the Match
===========

McGeady - probably smarting after his performance at OT and looks like defences in the near future are going to be paying for it :-)
